30 continuous winter nights in a tent in Auktsjaur, Lapland in the snow and biting cold!
My name is Thomas Turpeinen and I am co-owner of the nature and wilderness company Wilderness Life in Arvidsjaur AB.
We are planning to implement a genuine winter challenge in Lapland this winter. Something that could raise a lot of interest to outdoors people all over the world. The challenge, in brief, is that I will be spending 30 continuous nights in a tent during December/January.
Wilderness Life is located in Auktsjaur in Swedish Lapland which is approximately just 2 hours south of the Arctic Circle. This means that this will be a real winter challenge with the risk of extremely low temperatures, harsh conditions and a lot of snow!
We will during these 30 days be making daily updates on our blog (which is newly started specifically for this project), our website www.wildernesslife.se, and our facebook page http://www.facebook.com/pages/Wilderness-Life/335257079930209 . The updates will be in the form of text, pictures and videos.
To spend 30 nights in a standard tent without stove or other external heat source and to do this just south of the Arctic Circle in December/January, will place high demands on the equipment we need to use. We will also be evaluating some of the equipment that I use during this project on these networks. During this month we will also be broadcasting some of the activities we arrange like ice fishing, snowmobiling and arctic bushcraft etc.
Wilderness Life is a company that organizes outdoor activities all year round. As we are sending customers out into the cold it is vital that the equipment we use meets specific requirements. The very best way to recommend products is by having tested them oneself to the extreme.
It is the gear that will be used and tested during this project (and that meets our requirements) that we will use and promote in our outdoor activities such as ice fishing, Arctic Bushcraft & Survival, snowmobile and husky safaris etc. During this month we will also be broadcasting from our activities that we arranges up here in Swedish Lapland like ice fishing, snowmobiling and Arctic bushcraft etc.
We hope you may be interested in this winter challenge and will follow our blog to find out how it goes.
